Guest Review: Anything He Wants

anything he wantsAnything He Wants: Dominated by the Billionaire by Sara Fawkes

3 out of 5 Licks

First published as a five-part e serial novel, Anything He Wants inflamed imaginations everywhere and became a national bestseller. Now available for the first time ever as a complete book, this edition contains never-before-released scenes and special bonus material. Don’t miss this erotic tale of a powerful billionaire who always gets what he wants and the young woman who’s about to enter his exclusive realm–a world of glittering opulence and all-consuming passion, where she’ll explore the darkest reaches of her own desire.

Lucy Delacourt’s temp position isn’t quite her dream job but it pays the bills. The highlight of her day is riding the elevator in the mornings with a handsome stranger. Tall, dark, and sexy as hell, Lucy knows he’s way out of her league, but a girl can look, right?

Everything changes the day the stranger seduces her. Completely out of character, she yields without a fight, but she has no idea her wanton acts with a man whose name she doesn’t know will change her life forever. Because the sexy stranger is none other than Jeremiah Hamilton, billionaire CEO of Hamilton Industries, and one taste isn’t nearly enough to satisfy his need. As the billionaire pulls Lucy deeper into his world of high stakes business deals and ruthless takeovers, he demands nothing less than her complete surrender. But even as enemies seek deadly revenge against him, she’ll discover that her greatest threat is falling for her fiercely guarded boss…and yielding to her own darkest needs.

Let me start by saying, I am glad I found this after parts 1-5 were all put in one book together because serialized stories do nothing but drive me nuts…lol  I like instant gratification not dragging it out for weeks ;)   I understand that most people think romances and/or erotica is all about the sex, but there really has to be something that connects you to the characters and make you want to root for them to be together.  I had a hard time doing this for this book and these characters, at least at first.

Basically, Lucy is a temp who makes sure she catches glances at the object of her lust/fascination everyday on the elevator.  Hey, I totally get that…what does not sit with me is that wham bam she lets him have his way with her without even knowing his name, Jeremiah.  When she does find out that he is the boss of Hamilton Industries where she is temping, he basically fires her and then propositions her to become his personal assistant for a year and do whatever he wants…. a little to sketchy for my taste and if this had been the serial version I probably would have stopped at this part.  The story does pick up, her writing style gets better and you get to see other sides of the characters, especially Jeremiah who becomes a little more redeeming in my eyes.  The later parts of the story are more dramatic and believably/realistically sexier.  In some parts of the story you almost get a feel like the author was watching Falcon Crest or Dynasty (yes, I am dating myself) in regards to the feel of the secondary characters….Georgia and Anya.  Now, I just love Jeremiah’s brother Lucas, he should have his own story!  I really did enjoy the cliff hanger ending, where Lucas pretty much kidnaps Lucy after she gets feed up with Jeremiah.  I think Ms. Fawkes is coming into her own and I look forward to see where the story progresses and hopefully not in the serial format.
