5 out of 5 Licks
A couture wedding dress designer to the rich and famous, Lexi LaCroix’s image means everything. Raised on the wrong side of the tracks, her years of polish and hard work are finally about to pay off. She’s on the cusp of landing a partnership that will place her designs in high-end shops around the world, fulfilling lifelong dreams and providing financial security. But when she crosses paths with a sexier-than-sin, bad-boy biker who makes her realize how much living she’s sacrificed for her success, one touch is all it takes to threaten her carefully choreographed life.
Jax Chamberlin has been screwed over by gorgeous gold-diggers one too many times. Though he runs his own stunt company, all of America knows his family name, his Hollywood face, even his net worth, all years after he’s given up acting. Finding a woman who doesn’t plan to use him as a stepping stone to success is virtually impossible, so when the charming and mysterious Lexi offers him a chance at a totally anonymous hook-up during an out of town trip, Jax accepts. Only Lexi is more sextacular than charming, and Jax wants more. Lots more.
But Lexi’s got a major hang-up over his renegade lifestyle, and Jax isn’t willing to change his ways. Especially not when he discovers who she really is. Because if she finds out his connections could catapult her to the top of her career, he’s afraid the fantasy woman he’s falling for might just end up like all the rest. And this time, it’s not just his bad-boy reputation at risk, but his heart, too.
Let me start by saying…stop reading this review and go buy this book! Ok now that you are back from your shopping trip let’s proceed. Look at this cover! You can’t look at that cover and not want to read this book-that’s what drew me in initially. Then I started reading and didn’t stop until my body finally gave up on me at 3 AM! Right from the first sentence I was hooked. All the characters were so fun and everything felt so natural between them, even when they were doing things most people wouldn’t do. Jax and Lexi start with some sexy semi-anonymous texting while waiting for their flight. The banter between them was so natural and funny it sucked me into the story even more. I was thrilled with the fact that nothing in this story ever felt forced. I barely made it through Chapter 8 and then Chapter 9 without catching fire to my iPad (or myself for that matter). After nearly spontaneously combusting I almost burst into tears when they walk away from each other. When the finally make it back into each other’s arms this line broke me “Yes, I want to keep you more than I want to breathe.” The sex scenes were plentiful and written so well you felt like you were right there with Lexi and Jax having a voyeuristic moment. The emotion between the two was just as tangible. While I was reading this book it felt like my soul connected with these two. I know I sound like I’m gushing but I truly did love this book. I am so incredibly excited for the next in the series. When Rubi and Wes get together there is sure to be lots of heat and lots of trouble!
