Let me start with the fact that I did not read all 40 stories in this anthology.  While I like to branch out I just didn’t have enough time to read them all and they weren’t all appealing to me.  I did like that they break this book up in sections: Contemporary, Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal, and Historical.  Whoever formatted it did a good job as well.  There are several links embedded in the book so you can easily go to back to the table of contents after each book.  They even have all the heat levels listed so you can go straight to each book that way as well.  I gotta be honest and say most of the stories fell flat for me.  I know these are short stories and it’s hard to flush out the characters but I know it can be done.  I found myself skipping through most of them and then giving up all together and moving on to authors I have read before.  The stand outs for me were Picture Her Loved by Sidney Bristol, Hidden Attraction by Crystal Jordan, and A Right and Proper Apology by Kate Pearce.    Sidney Bristol starts the book off with a short story from her Bayou Bound series.  I really enjoy the characters so I was happy to see a little glimpse of Odalia and Jacques.  While I have read contemporary from Crystal Jordan I’ve been used to her paranormals lately.  It’s fun to see her dive into another contemporary series.  Crystal never disappoints me and I’m looking forward to more in this new series.  Kate Pearce’s contribution was the other one I was most looking forward to.  I’m not generally a historical fan but Kate always manages to suck me in.  One of the greatest things about this anthology is that 89% of the profits go to Reach Out and Read.  Well worth it for 99 Cents.
